Dear Friends,

We are often asked by people what they can do to help the adopt-a-bulls in our care. We know at times, you - like us - may feel helpless or overwhelmed, but there is something you can do to help...maybe even something you already do.

By supporting Shaw Pit Bull Rescue (Shaw PBR) and donating items, funds - or even just your time - you will make an immediate difference. You will also have the satisfaction of knowing that your generosity will keep working throughout the year as we care for those that may find themselves in need of rescue.

Donations provided by people like you make an incredible difference in the lives of homeless animals. Whether you feel led to contribute financially, through prayer, or both, your support is a meaningful way to truly celebrate the spirit of giving.

no empty bowls

Providing our dogs with a single-brand of dry food helps us avoid any dietary change upsets.  Your donation will keep our adopt-a-bulls content and their bellies full.  Even just a single bag of dry food could mean the world to a dog in need.

maintain good health

We are often short of critically needed soft or protein-rich foods such as eggs, sardines, or tuna.

By providing high quality, high protein food, you’ll be making sure our dogs are happier and healthier.

specialized diet

Veterinary diets are specifically formulated to meet the needs of dogs with on-going health issues such
as skin conditions or allergies, as well as those recovering from injuries or surgery. By donating a
bag of this food to the dogs with special needs, you’ll be helping them heal faster.

prevent life threatening illness

Unfortunately, not all dogs that come into our safe- keeping have received their annual, rabies, or kennel cough inoculations, etc. Your gift of vaccinations for a dog at SPBR will help ensure their health and safety.

general medical fund

Along with vaccinations, all dogs are micro-chipped, spayed/neutered, and receive
monthly heart worm and flea/tick prevention.  Your donation to our general medical fund will be used in the area of greatest need, and could make a lasting impact on the healthy lives of our adopt-a-bulls.

heart worm treatment

Their hearts are in your hands

Many of the dogs that find their way to Shaw PBR have not received monthly heart worm preventive, and are heart worm positive. Treatment is necessary for a comfortable, long life.  Your donation would help make this a reality.

emergency care fund

Many dogs arrive at SPBR in need of urgent care due to accidents, neglect or abuse. Our emergency care fund provides money needed to save their lives by providing the critical veterinary care they need and aftercare required to ensure recovery.

provide a good night's sleep

All dogs deserve all the comforts of home while at Shaw PBR. A cozy Kuranda bed provides our adopt-a-bulls with a soft, dry, off the ground place to relax.

support a week's salary

From feeding, walking, cleaning, playing, providing medical attention, and all the behind-the-scenes duties such as fund raising, social media posts, travel, research, phone calls, etc., taking care of all the dogs at SPBR is a 24-hour-a-day job! Support a week’s (or month’s) worth of care for our adopt-a-bulls and feel good knowing that they will receive the best care possible until being adopted.

Week or Month

keep dogs happy

The comforts of home can go a long way in keeping homeless dogs happy and healthy. A rawhide or yummy treat provides happy moments for dogs as they await adoption; enrichment toys add playtime fun; and Kongs provide dogs with many hours of enjoyment as they seek out hidden treats or soft food frozen inside.

Options

expanding the vision

Shaw PBR has operated on a small portion of a one-acre property in New Hope since 2012.

A recently acquired larger site, (6.5 acres), has the potential to be an amazing asset to - not only present and future adopt-a-bulls - but pot-bellied pigs, local dogs, and more!!

The plans for the Shaw PBR section of the new site include:

  • Indoor/Outdoor Kennels, with heating/cooling for the adopt-a-bulls
  • (3) Separate play yards, including an adoption yard; and a large covered pavilion to be utilized both as a covered play yard, and a place to hold educational workshops, seminars, provide dog training tips, and more.
  • A 20’ wide walkway around the entire perimeter for volunteers to exercise the adopt-a-bulls, on leash, without the dangers of walking on public roads.

A big part of the vision is to open a pot-bellied pig sanctuary - Porkchop’s Phat Farm.  Pot-bellied pigs are quickly filling up shelters and rescues across the country due to unprepared or uneducated owners.

It is estimated that about 90% of pet pigs end up being surrendered to shelters and sanctuaries.  Our goal is to provide a safe haven for those abandoned or unwanted pigs in a large, loving sanctuary where they can flourish.

The final phase is to open a portion of the new site to the public by establishing a dog park that will be a great place for dogs, their owners and dog lovers to congregate, socialize and exercise.

Our dream is to transform this unused, unmanicured piece of property and create an amazing new rescue site where the dogs can relax; unwanted piggies can live out their lives; and a place the community can be proud of.
