Mississippi Craft Show Donation (2013)
Shaw Pit Bull Rescue, Inc. announced that the organization has been awarded over $1,700 from The Mississippi Craft Show recently held in Jackson, MS.
From the Mississippi Craft Show FB Page:
"When the MS Craft Show was first conceived the dream was to not only have a successful show, but to donate proceeds from the entry fee to local charities. The plan from day one was
to help more charities each year as the show grew. In 2012 after the success of the first Show, the committee pledged to assist 2 no-kill animal shelters the
following year. This year we set about to achieve that goal by inviting more than one shelter to be our guest at the 2013 show. However, the other shelter we invited informed us they were unwilling
to participate in an event shared with their "competitors'. We honestly did not realize that inviting 2 shelters to benefit from our show would in any way be seen as an insult and we quickly had to
rethink our plan. In order to still be able to make good on our pledge, the committee decided that we would host only one guest shelter at the event, and we would simply hold back a small percentage
of the net proceeds to donate to a second shelter after the show.
The Mississippi Craft Show invited Animal Rescue Fund of Mississippi to be our guest at the 2013 Mississippi Craft Show. They had been aware that we were inviting another group as well, but we then had to explain that our original plan to host two guest shelters was no longer viable. Therefore in order to make good on the promise we made we would now simply choose a second beneficiary at a later date to make a surprise donation. The folks from ARF made a suggestion regarding a shelter we could choose for the surprise donation, and whilst we took their nomination on-board, we did explain that we would not be selecting the second beneficiary until much later in the year, possibly even after the show, and we would keep our selection a secret until it was time to make the donation.
The amount of the donation to the second beneficiary was to be determined by the success of the show. The greater the net proceeds, the greater the percentage we would be able to donate to our second charity.Between 10-20% of net proceeds, after taxes and outstanding invoices, of course.
It is our pleasure to let you all know that the committee voted unanimously to donate these funds to Shaw Pit Bull Rescue and we presented them with a donation of $1770.66 earlier today. We know that SHAW PIT BULL RESCUE will put this money to good use and we are thrilled to be able to provide them with this donation to assist them with their important mission.
On Thursday, September 26th we were able to present ARF with a donation in the sum of $10,033.74. The grand total of donations from the 2013 Mississippi Craft Show totaled $11,804.40.
From all of us at the MS Craft Show, we would like to thank everyone who attended the 2013 MS Craft Show for having a hand in the huge success of the show, culminating in our ability to make these significant donations. This is what can be achieved when we work together for the community.
We would like to thank our sponsors for their support and helping us to create such a wonderful event. We hope that everyone who was involved in any way had an enjoyable experience! We look forward to seeing you all again next year for an even bigger and better show in 2014."
We at Shaw PBR would like to add that if you were not able to attend the craft show, please go ahead and make plans for next year!! It will be August 23-24 and (if possible), bigger and better!! Shaw PBR will be there, among other extremely talented crafts people and pet lovers. Ya'll come see us!
Bullies by the Bay Donation (2013)
Shaw Pit Bull Rescue, Inc. announced that the organization was awarded a check for $606 by Lori Davis from the Bullies by the Bay Fun Show recently held in Pass Christian, MS.
From the Bullies by the Bay FB Page:
"I am happy to announce that after we collect on remainder of shirts sold we will have sold all but 3, and so I feel I can safely say we raised $606.00 for the Shaw Pit Bull Rescue! Thank you to everyone who got on board with us, bought t shirts, bought raffle tickets, & attended the fun show . We could not have done it without ya'll. A special thank you to Amy McArthur Bucks Bullies and Charlene Davis for allowing us to join their show, and to Shaw Pit Bull Rescue for letting us represent them. We will be delivering their check and visiting the rescue on Sunday! I can't wait! Gonna try to record the presentation and share it on the event page of Bully's by the Bay.
October 26th was National Pit Bull/Bully Awareness Day, and Amy McArthur of Bucks Bullies and Charlene Davis organized an event for everyone to come out and show support for the Bully breeds and families. Lori Davis and her family contacted us at Shaw PBR to see if we would be able to attend, but unfortunately we had already planned the Poker Run for that same day and could not make it to both events. However - they generously offered to represent us at the show, and even donate all the money they raised at the event!! We were so shocked and excited that this was even a possibility - the main thing is getting our name out there and marketing - but to top it off with a donation - WOW!!!!
The best part was we finally got to meet Lori and her family on Sunday, November 3rd - as they made the 4.5 hour trip from McComb to present us with the check, and a beautifully framed shirt design from the event. We had a great time visiting with them and showing all our dogs (even Porkchop!). I feel like we could have talked for hours (and we did!) - but even more hours - about dogs, events, and anything. We look forward to a long relationship and to meeting everyone else that was involved in the show. See you all next year!!!
