Won't You Consider Adopting?

January 21, 2015

Shaw Pit Bull Rescue currently has 23 dogs in their care - and all are awaiting their forever homes. One major difference of Shaw PBR over most other rescues, and shelters - is that all dogs that come to us are at our facilities until they find new homes. We also do not utilize fosters - all dogs are in our personal care so that we can better monitor their health and answer any questions potential owners may have regarding behavior, etc.

Shaw PBR also does not have a staff - owners/founders Kenneth and Aimee Shaw both work full time jobs, on top of the rescue work. Thankfully, we have a great group of volunteers that help with fundraisers, events, networking and help with our 'doggie spa days' and slinging gravel :O)

We are not funded other than by fundraisers, events, donations and any grants that may be awarded for the dogs in our care.  We also have Shaw PBR products for sale to benefit the rescue - which includes t-shirts, piggy banks, canvas paintings, decals, and more.   We received a grant from the ASPCA for $1500 to recover costs of purchasing 6 additional kennels - after taking in 31 dogs (18 from site / 2 were pregnant) from a hoarding case in 2013; and a $1500 grant from the MS Board of Animal Health in 2014 to recover costs of rabies vaccinations. We have also been extremely proud recipients of generous donations from the MS Craft Show. We are also very thankful to everyone that supports us - by sharing, liking, commenting (getting us more exposure); donating, purchasing craft or bake sale items, purchasing shirts/decals, etc.; adopting; and just general support - telling folks about us. THANK YOU.... We could not do this without you.

We've seen some pretty awful stuff these last few years - knowing that APBT's are the #1 abused breed is one thing - but hearing and seeing it is another. But we can only help so many. I am finding it so heartbreaking that only two of the dogs in our care have been here less than one year..... most over two years.... just waiting...

In closing - I'll ask again.... WON'T YOU CONSIDER ADOPTING?
