Mississippi Animal Cruelty Workshop by HSUS
The presentation focuses on the Mississippi Animal Cruelty Laws - specifically what you CAN and CAN NOT do when you suspect cruelty. This was an amazing workshop - and I have always encouraged anyone that is in animal welfare - even if you've heard it before - to attend. The information is invaluable and necessary to be able to make the changes in animal welfare in this state that are so desperately needed.
This workshop and information is invaluable in our field. If we do not learn the correct procedures to follow - we only make things worse, not better. We need to work together as a collective force - which means we all need to have the same information and routes to take when something is brought to our attention.
We at Shaw PBR are glad to be able to share this necessary information with anyone in Mississippi that would like to know the legalities of animal welfare - what can legally be done and what steps should (or most importantly, can) be taken in different circumstances.
Organizing these workshops all over the State is not an easy task - and we at Shaw PBR appreciate everything Lydia Sattler (MS Director of HSUS / now former) does for the animals. Please contact HSUS if you are interested in coordinating a Workshop in your area of the state. It is extremely important to arm ourselves with the correct knowledge.
State Animal Cruelty Laws
Laws relating to animals can vary widely from state to state. To enable you to find your state's laws quickly and easily, the ASPCA has partnered with the Michigan State University College of Law's Animal Legal & Historical Center to share its online database of animal-related laws, and their penalties, from all 50 states and the District of Columbia. This database is updated and expanded on a regular basis.
