15 to be honored by state for volunteer service

Fifteen outstanding community volunteers, both individuals and groups, will be recognized April 14 by Volunteer Mississippi.
They are recipients of the 2014 Governor's Initiative for Volunteer Excellence (GIVE) awards to be bestowed during a special luncheon ceremony at the Mississippi Museum of Art in Jackson. It's part of an annual recognition in coordination with the Office of the Governor and First Lady Deborah Bryant, Honorary Chair of the Volunteer Mississippi Board of Commissioners.
Those being recognized include:
Pinks Dudley, the Marsha Meeks Kelly Award for Lifetime Achievement in Volunteer Service
Lawrence R. Abramson, Outstanding Service in Public Safety
Catherine Buffington, Outstanding Volunteer Leadership by a Youth
Al Collins, Outstanding Service by a National Service Participant
Charles Dwyer, Outstanding Achievement in Disabilities Service
Lynda Favre, Outstanding Humanitarian Service
Jeff Good, Outstanding Community Support by a Business Owner
Judie Granderson Holmes, Outstanding Service to Veterans and Military Families
JoAn Niceley, Outstanding Service in the Promotion of Healing
John W. Pace, Outstanding Achievement in Community Building Initiatives
Lindsey M. Pellittieri, Outstanding Service by a College Student
Cynthia Minton Walker, Outstanding Achievement in Education Initiative
St. Vincent de Paul Society, Our Lady of Fatima Conference, Outstanding Nonprofit Volunteer Outreach
Shaw Pit Bull Rescue, Outstanding Achievement by a Grassroots Volunteer Initiative
